Glock 17 80 Percent - Released in November 2019, the original GST-9 won over 80% of the world, offering modular enhancements to the Glock-style frame without losing parts compatibility. After two years and hundreds of thousands of releases, we've raised the bar again with the GST-9 MOD1.

Based on two years of customer feedback, we've made some changes to the GST-9 structure to stay ahead of the competition. First, we moved the accelerator pedal forward and redesigned its profile to further optimize frame control during the recoil cycle, helping to bring the weapon back on target faster and more efficiently. We've also redesigned the contours of the modular grip attachment surfaces so that each grip option fits together perfectly, creating the cleanest build possible. Internally, we've separated the back rail module to improve the builder experience, users now only need to align one hole at a time, further simplifying the building process.

*MOD1 does not accept Glock 17 slides. MOD1 frame accepts Glock 19, Glock 19L and Glock 19XL sockets*

Due to recently changed ATF regulations, we are unable to legally add brackets or frame rails to MOD1 frames. The jig and MOD1 frame must be purchased as two separate items from our website. Each fixture includes a set of MOD1 frame rails. You will need to buy a jig for every MOD1 frame you plan to build. The frame rails are only included with the jig, not the bottom 80% itself.

The Polymer80 PF Series Pistol Frame Parts Complete Kit is compatible with the PF940v2, PF940C, and PF940SC frame mounts. The Polymer80 gives the end user several options in one kit, including two... let's go ahead and get that out of the way. If you're reading this to see how easy the Polymer 80 Glock is to manufacture, let me answer that now. Yes. It's so easy to do, I'm sure anyone can do it. The Polymer 80 Glocks are very easy to build, the one I am reviewing now was built with the included 80 under jig, Dremel and hand drill. I spent a few hours and polished it up a bit, but now it works like a charm. If you're hesitant, just dive in and do it.

Polymer 80 80% Pistol Frame V.1

Now that we've lost a few sitters, let's move on to the Polymer 80 Glock I built and do a quick recap. The PF940V2 is a full size model that uses Glock 17, 22, 34, 24, 35, 31 or 17L sockets. Most of us probably build a Glock 17 or 34. I chose 17. Available now from Rockey Brass!

Polymer 80 Glocks use Gen 3 parts which are very common and easy to find. I chose the Larry Vickers Special Edition Glock 17 Slide, Bear Creek Arsenal Barrel, and Glock OEM Bottom Parts Kit. Glock kit includes extended magazine release and slide lock.

I have found Poly 80 frames to be superior to Glock OEM frames in most ways. It has no finger grooves, which is great. It uses the 1911's 19-degree grip angle, while the Glock's 22-degree grip feels more comfortable and natural to me. The rails are real Picatinny rails, unlike the crazy Glock rail system. The gun also has a beaver tail on the rear, which is not found on OEM Glock frames. The PF940V2 is essentially an Americanized Glock.

As you know, America is better off. All these changes to the underframe make the Glock more ergonomic and easier to manoeuvre. The Polymer80's grip angle is more comfortable for me, but that's very subjective. It feels more natural, but if you've been using Glocks for years, this might sound weird to you.

One thing I like about the Polymer80 Glock is the addition of beaver tails. One of the problems I've had with Glocks is the sliding bite. If I take the gun and hide it well, the slide will bite me with every round and eventually break the skin. Polymer 80 frames don't offer the same sliding bite. The added beavertail protects you from this and gives you more of an advantage against muzzle lifting.

Once your gun is running reliably, you won't notice a huge difference in accuracy from the Polymer 80. Framing rarely affects accuracy. This makes shooting the weapon more comfortable and more controllable. I think the Polymer 80 addresses most of the criticism the Glock has received. Even Glock eliminated the finger groove on the latest generation of Glock pistols.

The downside of using a non-standard frame is the aftermarket. You will lose compatibility with many different holsters as well as different frame accessories. Some internal components like triggers will still be very compatible. However, accessories such as magazines will no longer work.

Another downside is reliability. You need to ask yourself: are you confident in your skills as a gunsmith? I personally don't. I don't use my Glock Polymer80 as a defensive firearm unless absolutely necessary. While I haven't had any reliability issues, I prefer the Glock OEM pistols for defensive use. The good news is that you can buy a complete Poly 80 frame, but that will require an FFL transfer on top of all the parts needed to assemble the gun.

The Polymer80 Glock is a fun project that lets you build your own gun. For me it's just a project. For some, this may be the easiest legal way to own a gun. with many
