Glock 19 Mhs - The pistol proposed by GLOCK was a finalist in the US Army's XM17 Modular Pistol System competition and is now rumored to be coming to the civilian market soon.

The team had the opportunity to test the gun in real life. This is an exclusive story about the world premiere we love and includes the original video.

Let's start at the end: the 9mm GLOCK 19 MHS is an excellent pistol. It couldn't be otherwise, as it is a finalist in the XM17 Modular Handgun System (MHS) competition, the US Army's competition to replace the decades-old Beretta M9 ( we previously reported on this ).

In the end, another pistol, the SIG Sauer P320, emerged victorious. But the decision was controversial and somewhat controversial, so when GLOCK invited us to test the G19 MHS in its first world media release at its headquarters in Deutsch-Wagram, Austria, we were excited and intrigued.

The operation of the GLOCK 19 MHS is very intuitive for those who have already shot a GLOCK pistol.

Our first interaction with the new pistol was very positive: the GLOCK G19 MHS is aesthetically pleasing and provides a "familiar feel" to anyone who has handled a GLOCK pistol before.

However, the more we looked at it, the more it differed from other GLOCK pistols. Of course, it starts with color. Over the years, GLOCK has offered frames in Desert Brown, Olive, Battlefield Green (BFG), Flat Black Dirt (FDE) and Gray. But this is the first time a factory-built GLOCK has had a colored slide. Also, the coyote yellow slide of the GLOCK 19 MHS has a soft, almost golden color that is attractive, even "sexy". The final processing used on the slides is currently a manufacturing secret.

The GLOCK 19 MHS appears to combine the frame of the full-sized G17 with the slide of the more compact G19. But that's not entirely true: the handle is the same height as the G17, but the dust cover is obviously shorter.

The GLOCK 19 MHS 9mm pistol grip is identical to the GLOCK 17 Gen4, minus the finger grooves, of course. Inserted magazine of 19 bullets. Picture:

The sight line is 151 mm (5.94 inches) and the front of the slide is beveled to facilitate holstering. The barrel is 102 mm (4 in) longer and the barrel has a deeper indentation on the crown to protect the grooves.

Then there is the famous manual safety. Actually, that's not new either. Previously, GLOCK produced an external manual safety version called the G17S for some security forces around the world, and both the Austrian and British military tested manual safety versions of the GLOCK 17. But these models were produced in very small numbers and are now collectors' items.

Moreover, for some reason, GLOCK has always maintained that adding a manual safety to the three independent automatic safeties already built into their product is a useless complication for a gun designed to fire directly without the need to operate button levers.

Anyway, an external thumb-operated safety was a competition-spec requirement from MHS, so here it is: a two-way system with a paddle on the left and a lever on the right, which can only be operated with the needle cocked.

Other notable features are a smooth front strap with no finger grooves, a classic military strap ring at the bottom of the grip, and flared belt buckles with an extended edge on the front of the magazine base plate. The frame can be easily adjusted to the shooter's hand thanks to GLOCK's modular backstrap system, which includes four different sized backstraps.

All controls of the GLOCK 19 MHS are copied to the right side: manual safety, lever to hold in the open position; the magazine version is reversible.

In addition, the G19 MHS does not have the third cross pin introduced by the "Gen 2" GLOCK for better support and distribution of energy transmitted through the lock block to the polymer frame. The current design of the locking block and its position in the frame does not require this.

The gun comes with three 17 and 19 round magazines, one "standard" and two "extended" double row coyote yellow magazines. Color aside, these are GLOCK 17 magazines. The G19 HMS weighs 908 g (32 oz) with a standard loaded magazine.

Glock 19x First Impressions And Review

After the gun inspection, we ceremoniously moved on to test fire the G19 MHS in GLOCK's indoor shooting range. There were other nice surprises for us. We were able to test the gun not only with the standard GECO 9mm 124gr FMJ factory ammo, but also with the real SP (Special Purpose) military load. We are not allowed to reveal any information about the manufacture, construction or specifications of this top secret bullet other than that it is incredibly powerful (+20% stronger than P+ bullets and ball charges) and extremely accurate. confirmed by our groups.

Our gun performed very well with both loads. Not only is the gun very accurate, but the trigger is extremely smooth and even, with an almost "rolling feel" that doesn't require too much travel to break. The reset is sharp and very short. Credit for this goes to a new trigger package that includes a manual safety, but uses a different type of spring than the standard GLOCK 17 and 19 pistols. The manufacturer lists a trigger travel of 12.5 mm (0.49 in).

GLOCK 19 MHS, 15 round group fired rapidly at 10 yards using GECO 9mm 124 gr FMJ bullets, each square 1cm wide.

GLOCK 19 MHS, each square 1cm wide, 9mm "SP" (Special Purpose) class bullets fired 5 shots at 25 meters from a mechanical locking pistol.

Thanks to the perfect angle and texture, the grip is solid and comfortable, even without a finger slot - in fact, many shooters claim they're better off without it. With standard GECO and special voltage cartridges, recoil and turning the barrel is easy. As a result, we were able to print very good, award-winning groups out to 25 meters (27 yards) with the pistol right from the start. We could find no faults in the operation or rotation of the GLOCK MHS pistol. The gun worked flawlessly. Spent rounds are positively ejected and always fall one meter/yard to the right on the same field, slightly behind the shooter.

Glock 19 Mhs

As mentioned in the first line of this article, the G19 MHS is a really great gun and one of the best GLOCKs in our opinion. But what happens after the US military loses a prestigious arms race with a price tag? Will it remain a simple exercise in style? Well, maybe not.

After repeatedly stating in the past that the G19 MHS would not be offered to the public, there are now rumors that GLOCK may change its mind.

There is no official confirmation yet, but this is not pure speculation. The same rumor suggests that the "civilian" G19 MHS will not have an additional manual safety feature.

In keeping with GLOCK's philosophy, this disclosure indirectly confirms that GLOCK officials are seriously considering that the civilian market could be a good option. It should be noted that GLOCK has developed a .40 caliber version for competition, the G23 HMS, a modular pistol system.

If not the military, the GLOCK G19 MHS can be a real winner for civilians. It would be a fitting revenge.

We are deeply grateful to GLOCK management for inviting our team to their headquarters in Austria and allowing us to collect this valuable and exclusive information in person. There are more details, we have prepared them for you in the coming days. As we all know, the competition between Glock and SIG for military contracts has gained a lot of air in recent months. The award to SIG may seem like the end of the story, but the other side of the story remains untouched. I got a lot of information last week and will post it later this week. Here's a quick rundown of Glock's objections.

In the meantime, I wanted to share some photos of the Glock pistols that competed in the Modular Handgun System (MHS) competition. The pistols are named the 9mm Glock 19 MHS and the .40 S&W Glock 23.
